John Woolf Jordan, an editor of the Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography and one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution, also had a long association with the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Charles Henry Hart was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1847, to Julia Leavey and Samuel Hart. He practiced law for a time, but then decided to devote himself to his interest in American art.
